Sensational Alex Harvey Band 1972 FRAMED Original Vertigo Swirl Label
Rare opportunity to acquire this Alex Harvey debut for Vertigo on its original pop art swirl label – one of the cleanest copies I've personally seen. Purchased second hand by Julian Cope in the early '90s, the item was kept safe thereafter in a double clear polythene bag, ensuring that it has remained clean and crisp despite its age. The outer gatefold is very clean except for a messy price sticker removal (please see photo) and some very minor edge wear. There has been no damage to the die-cut window, and the Vertigo swirl inner bag also remains clean and fresh-looking, except for some dark discolouration along one upper edge. Both sides have just been played through and sound splendid. Side one is clean save for one pop about 40 seconds into 'The Hammer Song', and some minor surfaces noises in the opening moments of 'Isobel Goudie'. On side two's opening track 'Buff's Bar Blues', some minor pops were encountered randomly throughout the song. Track 2 'I Just Want To Make Love To You' suffers similarly at the beginning, though the noises are again very minor. There is a large pop between Tracks 2 and Track 3 'Hole in Her Stocking'. This track exhibits one small pop early on, then another larger one about 2 minutes in. Track 4 'There's No Lights on the Christmas Tree' is entirely clean of flaws, as is the final track 'St Anthony'. All-in-all, a lovely early '70s piece. Many thanks for looking.
