Donizetti - L'Elisir D'Amore
(Columbia SAX 2299 UK LP 1959)
This is a UK original Stereo LP pressing. This is Record 2 only. This was issued as a 2 x LP set, each in its own cover. Record 1 is missing, so this auction is for record 2 with its original cover. Comes on front laminated flipback sleeve which has a circular gold "Stereophonic EMI recording" sticker on the front. Included is the original polythene-lined plain company inner sleeve.
The record is pressed on thick vinyl & has it's the very rare 1 edition on grooved turquoise blue & silver Columbia labels.
It has 1st press YBX 13-4 and YBX 14--2 matrix stampers.
PLEASE NOTE: You are bidding on an original 1960s’ vinyl - this will not have completely silent surfaces, even when in unplayed condition - but the sound and recording quality is generally excellent. If you are looking for absolutely perfect blemish-free reproduction, please bear this in mind.
Sleeve: There is significant wear and rubbing on 3 of the corners. Tiny bit of lamination peeling on the center along the opening edge. Apart from this all is fine, so the cover grades VG+
Vinyl: Visually very clean, looks EX to NM. Has been playgraded and this is a record that will improve with a professional cleaning. Plays with considerable bg noise in the background more in the beginning, some pops as well, but gets better. I'm convinced the playback will get better or maybe even completely disappear with a good professional cleaning. Grades VG+ to VG++.
