Description
The classic 45 that started the punk revolution back at the end of 1976 from UK pioneers The Sex Pistols. Their debut 45 - Anarchy in the UK was only briefly available in Australia prior to being withdrawn suddenly by EMI after the company dropped the group from it's roster, although there was a sudden rush of collectors down to their record stores early in 1977 when the impending withdrawal was announced by local music legend Ian "Molly" Meldrum during his segment on the local "Countdown" music show, which everybody in Australia watched as a matter of necessity without fail back then. Some music fans scored a copy from their local record shop, some did not, as many shops had already sent their stock back to EMI Australia for destruction (recycling)
Whilst the stock copy of this item still turns up around the collectors circles, and sells for anything around the $80-100 mark upwards in decent condition, this radio station "A" label promotional copy is a different proposition altogether. It rarely turns up at all. I am not too sure what happened to all the copies, but this is one of the few surviving ones, and it is in great shape as well!!
Detail EMI 11334 The Sex Pistols "Anarchy in the UK" b/s "I Wanna Be Me". A Label Promo - release date 21/12/76 hand-written lightly on A Side (probably by radio station representative). Rarely played at all - the nature of AM Australian radio back in the 1970's was such that no radio station would have accommodated this in their playlist at all back then!!
Grading EX both sides - only a few very light marks at most. No other faults at all - a superb copy!!
Comes in original EMI Australian paper sleeve, standard for all 45's from the period. It was never issued in a picture sleeve, as most 45's in Australia were not during the 1970's.
This is seriously rare - I doubt I will ever see another copy come up at all.
