Description
THE SEX PISTOLS
'RUBBER JOHNNY & THE SEX PISTOLS' (NO FUN)
ORIGINAL WISE/PFP GREEN/WHITE LABLE'S 1st EDITION LP c. 1977
MEGA RARE BROWN OVERSIZED COVER WITH DIFF TITLE..
SAME DIY STAMPER THAT THE LATER WHITE COVER TITLE'S WERE PRINTED WITH
I ONCE HAD THIS SAME COVER MANY YEARS AGO WHICH I AUCTIONED BUT THAT CONTAINED A COPY OF THE 'INDECENT EXPOSURE' ALBUM & SHORTLEY AFTERWARDS I WAS CONTACTED BY A GUY WHO CLAIMED THAT THIS WAS ACTUALLY THE EARLY 'PROTOTYPE' JACKET FOR THE 'NO FUN' LIVE MANCHESTER FREE TRADE HALL JUNE '76 CONCERT HENCE THE 'ROTTEN QUALITY' CAPTION PRINTED ON THE COVER & THAT HE WAS ORIGINALLY PART OF THE PFP(Punk For Pleasure) CONCEPT THAT WERE BEHIND THIS LP & ALSO THAT OF THE CLASH'S 'WHITE RIOT' ALBUM & THIS IS THE COPY THAT I WAS OFFERED WHICH I AM NOW PUTTING UP FOR AUCTION..
* A typewritten note that came with this when i acquired it state's that 'this was the initial attempt at a cover for the first ever Sex Pistols bootleg album and that only a very small handfull, perhaps half a dozen were made before the idea was scrapped in favour of the stamped plain white cover and the 'NO FUN' title but still carrying the 'Rotten Quality' caption..' i personally have no idea if this was actually the case but after spending several years trying to find anything to the opposite of this and in view of the stamper being the same used on the later white cover's, i am inclined to go along with the idea that this was some kind of 'prototype' cover for the bootleg album *
