Please NOTE: I am not a record collector nor can I play 78's, so the ratings given are my best guess based on visual information only and using the VJM rating system as a guide. I also do not clean the discs.

Despite having been conceived as a quartet and mostly keeping that name throughout its history, the group extended up to seven musicians at times.
Cuarteto Caney was founded at the beginning of the thirties in the city of New York by Cuban musician Fernando Storch. Playing music on the style of the repertoire soneros Cubans, the Cuarteto Caney was among the first groups to popularize the music of Cuba to American audiences and defined the Cuban sound of Latin music in the United States.
A pesar de haber sido concebido como un cuarteto y sobre todo mantener ese nombre a lo largo de su historia, el grupo amplió hasta siete músicos a veces.
Cuarteto Caney fue fundada a principios de los años treinta en la ciudad de Nueva York por el músico cubano Fernando Storch. Reproducir música en el estilo del repertorio soneros cubanos, el Cuarteto Caney fue uno de los primeros grupos de popularizar la música de Cuba a las audiencias americanas y define el sonido cubano de la música latina en los Estados Unidos.
