Description
What a find this is. It's Deep Purple's 1st album on the Parlophone black and yellow label in its original Mono format which was only available for a few months. What's more is that it's the earliest ever pressing with 1G stampers to both sides and it's a factory sample demo record too!!
The records surfaces are very very shiny with just a hint of bag rash from the inner sleeve when held up to the light). This will be supplied in a poly lined inner). There is nothing of concern here.
Includes 2 covers of the Beatles and Jimi Hendrix.
The labels are superb with no writing etc.
The KT tax code is stamped on side 1, the factory sample sticker is adhered to the same side.
The cover is printed by Garrod and Lofthouse with a date of September 1968. There are a few creases under the laminate on the front panel but it is fully intact with a good shine. The rear unlaminated panel is also fully intact as are the 3 external flaps. There is a little wear to the opening edge and 2 small corner bumps from handling etc. and what maybe the reviewers stamp close the the opening, possibly done by the record company?
The inner sleeve is the black and white generic EMI ad sleeve, this pre dates the sepia version.
Matrix: xex 689-1, 690-1.
Stampers: 1G/1G (the very earliest).
To sum up a really rare record of significance in great condition.
