Description
A box set of four (4) 12" vinyl LPs of a performance of King Richard III, by William Shakespeare, released by the Shakespeare Recording Society (SRS 223), with the full text of the play included in book form. Actors include Robert Stephens, Dame Peggy Ashcroft, Cyril Cusack, Ian Holm, Glenda Jackson, Nigel Davenport, Michael York, et al. Directed by Howard Sackler.

This item is collectible because it belonged to the family of Frank Balistrieri (1918-1993) of the Balistrieri family noted in the history of organized crime in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, a family whose story is partly told in the 1995 Martin Scorsese film Casino. Until recently, this item was kept in the office of Frank Balistrieri's son John J. Balistrieri (1948-2024) in the historic Shorecrest Hotel high-rise on Milwaukee's East Side, overlooking Lake Michigan. The book included here features markings and annotations in the handwriting of Frank Balistrieri's other son Joseph P. Balistrieri, Jr. (1940-2010).
I have not play-tested these records, but they appear to be very gently used. Only slight handling to box. All inserts and paper inner sleeves are included. See images, which are of the actual item, not stock photos.
