Description

Authentic Specialty Records Corporation (SRC) 12" test pressing for Sheila E.’s 1991 single “Sex Cymbal.”

Features the correct white SRC labels with typed fields (TITLE, ARTIST, ACCT, MTX, REC NO) and the Olyphant, PA plant address — confirming this as a genuine in‑house test pressing, not a promo or later repress.

🔷 Mastered at MASTERDISK, with the MASTERDISK stamp in the deadwax on both sides. Also includes the correct SRC “S‑CR” logo stamped in the runouts, verifying pressing at SRC’s Olyphant facility.

🔷 Matrices:Side A: 0‑21848‑A MASTERDISK ✧ SRC logo • Side B: 0‑21848‑B MASTERDISK ✧ SRC logo Both match the Warner Bros. catalog number 0‑21848 used for the 12" single.

🔷 Side B Engineering Note: After the Sheila E. program, Side B includes a purposeful, wave‑like groove‑pattern design and additional test‑cut program material. This is part of SRC’s lacquer‑calibration process and is not a defect — it is original to the engineering workflow.

🔷 Condition: Vinyl EX (light surface noise and a few pops; no skips; very minor warp that does not affect play). Sleeve EX (plain white SRC test‑press jacket and inner sleeve with center cutout; includes brand‑new poly inner sleeve and new outer plastic sleeve).

🔷 Playback: Both sides play cleanly with light noise typical of early‑stage test pressings. The beat‑driven test material on Side B naturally masks some surface noise. No tracking issues.

🔷 Tracks:Side A: Sheila E. – “Sex Cymbal” (test‑press program) • Side B: Sheila E. – “Sex Cymbal” (test‑press program) + intentional SRC test‑cut material

A rare behind‑the‑scenes slice of the mastering bench — where the engineers left their fingerprints in the grooves.
