Description
This is a very nice copy of Classic Records 180g pressing of works by Siblieus and Grieg with the London Proms Symphony under the direction of Charles Mackerras on 4 single-sided 180 g. 45 RPM records. The works by Sibelius are “Finlandia”, Valse Triste”, and “King Christian: Elegie and Musette”. The works by Grieg are “Wedding Day at Troldhaugen”, “Two Melodies, Op. 63 No. 2”, and “Two Elegiac Melodies, Op. 34”. The 45 RPM set is a complete recording LSC-2336-45. When I first bought this new, the records were cleaned with a VPI record cleaner and treated with LAST record preservative. More recently it was recleaned with Audio Intelligent Fluids on a VPI cleaner and on an Audio Desk ultra sonic record cleaner. It has also been demagnetized with a Furutech DeMag.
There are no scuffs or scratches but there are some streaks in the vinyl. Side 1 plays mostly very quietly with only 5 light ticks observed over the side. Side 2 plays mostly very quietly with only 10 light ticks observed over the side. Side 3 plays mostly very quietly with only 7 light ticks observed over the entire side. Side 4 plays mostly very quietly with 6 light ticks noticed over the side. I have only played the records a few times on various VPI tables I have owned (HW-19 MKIV, TNT 3.5, and Classic 4) using either Lyra or Benz Mico Ruby cartridges. The sound is naturally open and detailed. The covers for records 1 and 2 are the glossy 180g jackets used by Classic records, while records 3 and 4 are housed in a plain white jacket with a sticker as originally issued by Classic. There are no seam splits or ring wear, but jacket 1 has a small nick along the bottom edge approximately 3” from the opening. Only side A of each LP is pressed. Side B is blank. Multiple records can be combined in an order to save shipping costs.
