Description
Sidney Bechet leads the Port of Harlem Seven, doing "Pounding Heart
Blues" on 12" Blue Note 6. Bechet plays clarinet, Frank Newton trumpet,
J.C. Higginbotham trombone, Meade Lewis piano, Teddy Bunn guitar,
John Williams bass, with Big Sid Catlett on drums.
On the reverse side, Bechet switches to soprano sax as the Sidney
Bechet Quintet plays Gershwin's "Summertime." Lewis, Bunn,
Williams, and Catlett are also sitting in. This was recorded in May of
1939.
The record is in excellent to excellent-plus (E to E+) condition on the
A side, and excellent (E) with light scuffs on the B side.
