GMAJOR TOCCATA CRYSTAL INTERLUDE VII 4 ROWS OF JACKS Tis as though a great, sustained wind swept into an empty 18th century cathedral, billowing inside and bursting forth with har- monics of the future. Thus transformd, a massive pipe organ-call it for the moment, pneumatic synthesizer-offers fanfares of centuries to come. Then, just as suddenly as it arrived. this mysterious wind departs and, out- side, creates the melodic quiet of deep blue, pre-dawn, ice-crystal-sparkling night. The wind begins to change be- fore our eyes with the almost audible rising of the sun. Warming, morning light reaches toward each crystal facet, radiating rainbows across miniature skies. The wind at last subsides-departing for another century, strumming across the strings of a quiet morning interlude. Transcending time, four rows of jacks full-coupled inside an ancient harpsi- chord burst to magnificent life-trig- gering electronic signals which leap through unknown skies, guided only by occasional rhythmic soundings to and from eternity. RED WINE DANCING FLAMES THE DREAM EMBERS single glass breathes, wine red and deep, across the room-your journey to this place too long, your arrival long awaited. Perhaps in anticipation, you've heard the ancient crackle of oak and hickory fires on ancient fireplace grates, sipped other glasses searching for this calm which only now arrives with ease, as Christmas arrives, echoing the changes of Greensleeves. Never, though, could you have anticipated the eagerness with which the flames begin to dance, the first cool touch of wine against your lips, the changes as each chill escapes. Weightlessly you dance among the flames above your soul. The room now bathed in soothing light, the book before you opens and invites you into yet another room, another time another dream which takes you on to yet another, farther journey-more than twice the distance travelled in your lifetime til today. Hours pass like moments as pages pass like steps across horizons never seen. And as the room begins to darken just before the dawn, only embers now recall your many, distant journeys. But I say, if what most tribunals say about witches is true that they are carried through the air-even this will perhaps be possible, that a body separated from earth might be carried to the moon.
