Description
Sindy – Every Little Girl’s Dream Come True, c1963 single-sided 7” single, presented by Pedigree Dolls Limited, First Edition.
This is an nice example a very hard-to-find single-sided record that relates to Sindy Doll, and which dates from the early 1960s. The label reads Sindy – presented by Pedigree Dolls Limited, 45 rpm Second Edition, Every Little Girl’s Dream Come True. I know of three different Sindy records – all of which date from I think 1963 and / or 1964. The easiest to find is the EP in a picture cover that features tracks by Cliff Warwick and the Dollybeats and has the story of how Sindy met the group on one side and tracks by the band on the other. The catalogue number of that record is SD3 + SD4. When I bought this record I bought what I thought was another copy of it. This one says First Edition on the label and the other one says Second Edition. I assumed that it meant just that – the first and second pressing. But luckily I played them both and I found that the Second Edition record contains a two-minute version of the Sindy song / jingle that featured in all the early advertising. This one contains snippets of that song (sometimes in the background) but most of the recording is of a well-spoken man who introduces Sindy – The Doll You Love To Dress / Sindy – The Doll They’ll Ask For By NameThe record must have been sent to toy retailers by Pedigree Dolls to encourage them to stock the Sindy range. This one explains Sindy, her range of outfits and accessories, and details of the huge promotional campaign that will feature on TV between September 1963 until Christmas and also into 1964. The man tells us that ‘Our Representative will be calling soon....” The record is in VG+ condition with just a few occasional ‘ticks’. There is some minor fading to the right side of the label.
The record is in a glossy laminated EP cover. The paragraphs of text on the back repeat many of the details that we hear on the record. The cover shows minor signs of storage but still grades as EX
PLEASE DO NOT ASK ME TO END THIS AUCTION EARLY.
It is impossible to be an expert in all realms of collecting, and I am honestly representing this item to the best of my knowledge and ability. If the item has a fault then I have mentioned it. I ask that you read the description and examine the photos carefully. I also encourage you to ask any questions you may have during the auction to help clarify identification or condition, as I may inadvertently omit information that you as a collector feel is important.
If after you receive the item there is any problem at all please let me know BEFORE leaving feedback or leaving a low Item As Described rating. If you do not let me know of a problem I have no way of knowing what may have been wrong and I really do want to sort it out.
I am not able to provide scans of paper items and I have no facility to record / copy any records.
Browsing !
Rather than click on the See Other Items link, if you click on either the blue Door symbol or the words Oldvan's Shop you will see my auction items and my Buy It Now items split into various categories which will make browsing easier! e.g. 7" single records, LP's, Books, Toys etc etc. You will not have to wade through hundreds of items that you are perhaps not interested in.
CONDITION. The majority of items that I list are between forty and sixty years old. Some are older and some may be a few years younger. I have described the condition of the item in my text but where applicable I have also ticked the 'used' box as even where an item is 'perfect', it is very old and logic says it must have been handled and probably used at some time over the decades!
ALL of my AUCTION ITEMS are now listed with basic / second class POSTAGE INCLUDED in the UK.
Despite the Free P&P notice shown on this listing it is not actually free to post of course! I have to pay to post them and each week / month / year I pay many thousands of pounds to my local post office. But for UK bidders the price you see at the end of the auction is the total price you pay. If by some remote chance anyone out there - including the Bods at eBay who came up with the Free P&P notice - can tell me where you really can post items for free I would really LOVE to know.
DELIVERY TIMES. Although I have ticked the Royal Mail 2nd Class Standard option, please note that this service is reliable and often is unexpectedly fast. Many customers receive their item within 48-60 hours of paying, and so please disregard the 'estimated delivery time' stated near the top of this page - which I have no control over.
I have also listed other faster options for UK postage (First Class Recorded Delivery + Special Delivery is available) and also various options for overseas buyers that are stated when you click on the P&P Tab.
Worldwide Postage / Shipping.
Upate - April 2014 - After absorbing last year's postal increases into my costs, the latest prices released by the Royal Mail mean that I have to increase some of my prices slightly.
IF YOU ARE THINKING OF BIDDING ON MORE THAN ONE ITEM PLEASE CONTACT ME IN ADVANCE FOR A QUOTE.
I AM ALWAYS HAPPY TO COMBINE SHIPPING AND WITH THE NEW ROYAL MAIL PRICING BANDS MANY ADDITIONAL ITEMS WILL EFFECTIVELY HAVE FREE POSTAGE. In the case of 7" singles there will be a small charge for a second one but third and fourth records can go for no extra money. Also - please see my discounts for Fixed Price / Buy It Now records.
IF YOU WIN MORE THAN ONE ITEM PLEASE WAIT FOR AN INVOICE BEFORE PAYING as I WILL DISCOUNT SHIPPING WHEREVER POSSIBLE.
TRACKING NUMBER. If an item sells for more than £40, (or for a package that has a total value of more than £40) it will need to be sent with a Tracking Number - the Royal Mail's International Tracked service. This costs an additional £5 and that price will be added so that both you - the Buyer - and myself are covered under the buyer protection policy.
PACKAGING. Please note that all of my items are well-packed in either board-backed enveloples, thick card or in boxes, and then wrapped in good quality brown paper. I do not make any separate charge for packaging materials - everything is included in the final price. Many of my feedback comments mention my good packaging and I will of course continue to meet my own standards.
