Marked "For use by Military Personnel Only"

Features a variety of music, including one rockabilly song ("Blue Suede Shoes" written by Carl Perkins) and one country song ("Why, Baby, Why?" written by George Jones), as well as some swinging cadence calling ("Drill Team Boogie," "Honey-Babe," and "Jodie Chant").

Battalion or Regimental Chorus category: The PMGC Chorus, Provost Marshal General's Center, Fort Gordon, Georgia. 35 singers led by Captain Werner Paul sing a medley "The Halls of Ivy"/"The Happy Wanderer"/"Army Blue"

Post or Division Chorus category: The Student Choir, Army Language School, Fort Ord, California. Two Russian songs "South Wind" and "At the Wind"

Country and Western Group category: The Circle A Wranglers, Fort McPherson, Georgia, perform "Why, Baby, Why?" and "Blue Suede Shoes"

Army Band Chorus category: 84th Army Band Chorus, APO 26, New York, representing USAREUR (United States Army, Europe). This small chorus of bandsmen, directed by Sp3 Doyle Dumas, sings two standard songs from chorus literature, "Sweet and Low" and "De Animals"

Barbershop Quartet category: The A Cappells, 48th Armored Medical Battalion, APO 34, New York. The quartet sings a medley of three barbershop regulars, "Tell Me Why," "Mister Moon," and "Coney Island Baby"

Singing Platoon category: Company G, Military Police Training Center, Fort Gordon, Georgia. The platoon, sparked by its imaginative song leader, performs a bright medley of "Drill Team Boogie," "Honey-Babe" (from the film Battle Cry), and "Jodie (Duckworth) Chant."

Deep groove labels.

Condition: Plays through with no skips or sticks, but with a good bit of crackling and popping on some tracks. Fortunately, the Circle A Wranglers songs play much cleaner than some of the other tracks. Sound clips are from the actual disc being offered, and the Circle A Wranglers and Singing Platoon tracks are included in their entirety, as I expect they will be of the most interest to collectors. Visually, disc looks pretty rough: Side One g+ (greying grooves and lots of long surface scuffs. SPECIAL NOTE TO NEW COLLECTORS: "g" or "good" is a LOW grade for a record. It means "good" in the sense that if it were any worse, it would be "no good" to anyone. "g+" means a little bit better than "g"). Side Two so-so/vg-. Jacket so-so/vg- (masking tape on three sides, presumably to correct splitting). See photos.
