Description
It's always a problem grading these lovely old SKA records.
They went to lots of parties.
That means that they're a bit battered and that's why many have names written on the label.
HOWEVER... they're usually cut VERY LOUD and though they look a bit rough, they sound OK (especially if you press the "Mono" button).
This means that a 60's Ska goodie can be perfectly acceptable, even if it looks R.A.A.B.B. (Rough As A Bear's Bottom)..
Please bear that in mind when reading my descriptions.
Here we have the “differently sane” grand master, Rainford Hugh Perry, better known as Lee “Scratch” Perry with an early UK release “Trials & Crosses” and “John Tom” on the Ska Beat label number JB 203. It dates from 1965 and was originally on the Jamaican Worldisc label.
It is as rare as heck.
The “B” side (the best side) is a rude song about a chap’s thingy, much in the manner of “The End Of Me Old Cigar”.
It ain’t in magnificent condition. It’s been stored in a box with a lot of other sleeveless discs, and looks a bit scroffled.
But fear not, there are NO major marks on Lee Perry’s old John Tom.
It plays very well indeed with no problems.
I’d rate it as just about a VG to look at, but playing VG++ or better.
Bid now, or look forward to a lifetime of regret and bitter self-loathing.
If you buy more than one item you might qualify for a postal discount.
I am not a dealer.
I am just a very old bloke thinning out his lifetime collection of STUFF before the floor collapses (or I do).
I'm selling most of this stuff for much less
than I paid for it.
What a great business plan (I don't think)!
I am certainly NOT INTERESTED IN PROFIT..
..and indeed, seldom make any!
What little profit I do make goes to help
a very splendid Wildlife Rescue Charity.
The item in the photograph is the item you will get.
I have described everything to the best of my ability, and it looks in lovely condition to me.
Please check the photographs to decide for yourself.
NO OVERSEAS bidders please.
And NO OVERSEAS bidders using UK addresses please.
I am a simple sort, and I want my buyers to be happy. If there is any kind of problem, I like to sort it out personally. I can’t do this if you’re thousands of miles away!
