Description

It's always a problem grading these lovely old SKA records.

They went to lots of parties.

That means that they're a bit battered and that's why many have names written on the label.

HOWEVER... they're usually cut VERY LOUD and though they look a bit rough, they sound OK (especially if you press the "Mono" button).

This means that a 60's Ska goodie can be perfectly acceptable, even if it looks R.A.A.B.B. (Rough As A Bear's Bottom)..

Please bear that in mind when reading my descriptions.

Well, here's a fine example of a 45 rpm disc which looks quite scruffy but plays surprisingly well, especially with the "mono" button pressed.

It's Skinhead favourite "TNT" by "The G.G. Rhythm section" ("Two Tousand Tons Of T.N.T. 'bout To Explode Now!") and the other side is "Botheration" by The Maytones.

It is on the prestigious Blue Cat label, number BS 165 from 1969.

It is very scruffy looking, and has some writing on the label one one side, but plays through with no hops, skips, or jumps and it rolls along "Like A Big Wheel In A Georgia Cotton Field".

It plays well enough to NOT be a mere "collection filler" and will gladden your heart and give you little bass while you wind up yer waist.

There is a click audible on the last few seconds of "Botheration".

I reckon it's a scruffy classic, it is still well collectable (and enjoyable) even though it grades at no better than a VG.

Think of it as a large, ill-mannered, one-eyed tomcat that isn't Best In Show, but you're happy to give it a good home, and can't imagine life without it (see photo).

Because it isn't perfick, it has a nice low starting bid price.

I am not a dealer.

I am just a very old bloke thinning out his lifetime collection of STUFF before the floor collapses (or I do).

I'm selling most of this stuff for much less

than I paid for it.

What a great business plan (I don't think)!

I am certainly NOT INTERESTED IN PROFIT..

..and indeed, seldom make any!

What little profit I do make goes to help

a very splendid Wildlife Rescue Charity.

The item in the photograph is the item you will get.

I have described everything to the best of my ability, and it looks in excellent condition to me.

Please check the photographs to decide for yourself.

NO OVERSEAS bidders please.

And NO OVERSEAS bidders using UK addresses please.

I am a simple sort, and I want my buyers to be happy. If there is any kind of problem, I like to sort it out personally. I can’t do this if you’re thousands of miles away!
