Description

It's always a problem grading these lovely old SKA records.

They went to lots of parties.

That means that they're a bit battered and that's why many have names written on the label.

HOWEVER... they're usually cut VERY LOUD and though they look a bit rough, they sound OK (especially if you press the "Mono" button).

This means that a 60's Ska goodie can be perfectly acceptable, even if it looks R.A.A.B.B. (Rough As A Bear's Bottom)..

Please bear that in mind when reading my descriptions.

Well looky here! It's a lovely Doctor Bird UK original 45 rpm disc by Tommy McCook and The Supersonics, "Indian Love Call" with "How Would You Feel" by Owen And Leon on the B side.

The number is DB1053 and it dates from 1967.

It is a curious juxtaposition of tracks. The A side is a ska'd for life version of the popular Slim Whitman/Nelson Eddy tune from the stage musical "Rose Marie".

The B side is a fine Jamaican R&B outing which sounds very much like the New Orleans "Tan Canary" Johnny Adams.

It is not in totally perfect condition, but it is clean and plays very well.

There are storage marks (one causing a slight click right at the end of the A side.. which don't matter a hill o' beans) and most of these vanish from earshot when the "mono" button is pressed. It is, as noted above, cut VERY LOUD. In fact, it's cut SO LOUD that a few sibilants on the B side edge into distortion (British Homophone must've let these slip though during the disc mastering process).

A nice conservative grading, all things considered, is probably round about the VG+ mark (plays better than it looks) and it will fill the floor at any suburban orgy, jumbie jamboree or skinhead moonstomp-athon.

I am not a dealer.

I am just a very old bloke thinning out his lifetime collection of STUFF before the floor collapses (or I do).

I'm selling most of this stuff for much less

than I paid for it.

What a great business plan (I don't think)!

I am certainly NOT INTERESTED IN PROFIT..

..and indeed, seldom make any!

What little profit I do make goes to help

a very splendid Wildlife Rescue Charity.

The item in the photograph is the item you will get.

I have described everything to the best of my ability, and it looks in excellent condition to me.

Please check the photographs to decide for yourself.

NO OVERSEAS bidders please.

And NO OVERSEAS bidders using UK addresses please.

I am a simple sort, and I want my buyers to be happy. If there is any kind of problem, I like to sort it out personally. I can’t do this if you’re thousands of miles away!
