DESCRIPTION : Near-mint condition copy of Skewbald / Grand Union 7". Dischord Records # 50, Washington, DC, 1991. Clear vinyl. 1st pressing.
Skewbald / Grand Union was a short-lived band, sandwiched in between the earliest incarnation of Minor Threat (1980-1981) before Lyle Preslar went off to college and a re-formed Minor Threat (1982-1983) after Lyle decided the band was more fun. The band was comprised of Ian MacKaye on vocals, Eddie Janney (Untouchables, Faith, Rites of Spring, One Last Wish, Happy Go Licky) on guitar, John Falls on bass, and me (Jeff Nelson, Teen Idles, Minor Threat, 3, etc) on drums. Skewbald was Ian's preferred band name, whereas Grand Union was my preference, named after a nearby grocery store where we first bought groceries upon moving into the Dischord House in October 1981. The 2 songs contained on this record were recorded at Inner Ear Studios in November 1981, but not released until 1991 as Dischord No. 50.

CONDITION / PROVENANCE: Record and Sleeve are both in good condition. Vinyl is mint, but white cover does have some smudges on it. This copy of the record is the very one I (Jeff Nelson, Minor Threat/Dischord) sent my parents when it first came out. I'm guessing they listened to the record once, if that. They always were, and continue to be, very supportive of Dischord, but that doesn't mean our records were in heavy rotation in their household. They've been downsizing recently, and have returned all the Dischord records and silkscreened posters I'd given them over the years. Although my parents have never been record collectors, and therefore did not keep this or other records in plastic sleeves, it was still preserved carefully, and kept away from light and dust for the last 21 years. Record has never been played. This record is unconditionally guaranteed to be original, from 1991.
