Slayer’s Seasons in the Abyss — one of the defining albums of the band’s legendary run and arguably the perfect collision of the breakneck aggression of Reign in Blood with the darker, heavier attack of South of Heaven.


Originally released in 1990, the album is loaded with Slayer essentials including the explosive “War Ensemble,” the sinister “Dead Skin Mask,” “Skeletons of Society,” “Spirit in Black” and the crushing title track “Seasons in the Abyss.” Tom Araya, Kerry King, Jeff Hanneman and Dave Lombardo firing on all cylinders.


This 2013 American Recordings reissue presents the album remastered on heavyweight 180g vinyl, giving this thrash-metal landmark a substantial modern pressing while retaining the original single-LP presentation. This heavyweight 180g remastered edition uses the highly regarded The Mastering Lab lacquer cut, identified by the TML-M marking in the deadwax, giving this pressing genuine mastering pedigree beyond a standard catalog reissue.


An essential Slayer album and one of the strongest metal records of the early ’90s — vicious, atmospheric and still completely lethal more than three decades later.
