An iconic album from an iconic period. Don't miss out on this funk classic from '71.
1st pressing on Epic for the Xmas market '71. Matrix A1/B1. Note the track listing - track 6 mentions 'there's a riot going on'. But does it play? Nope! It was a Sly trick! Many folks took their records back to the store thinking there was a missing track! And as a result many 1st issue copies went out with a sticker on the rear reminding folks that the track 'There's A Riot Going On' - is timed at zero minutes & zero seconds - ha! The heavy-set vinyl comes housed in an original heavy-card gatefold cover. We also have the original credit/lyric sheet. 
Vinyl (Ex/Vg+) In marvellous condition and has only seen light careful use. Under close inspection I could only make out a couple of light marks per side - nothing troublesome. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals a mostly EXCELLENT level of playback with a couple of deviations. There's some great funk laid down here - and it will sound fab on a solid early pressing like this. The audio quality is absolutely superb. Intros and inbetweens are very nice and quiet and the audio comes across with excellent clarity. Nice clean player by and large. The deviations are in the low-key tracks 'Baby' & 'Time'. I'm just getting a touch of light background in the odd spot in these two. Nothing invasive - they just won't play as clean as the rest of the LP. A couple of ticks in the intro to 'Time' too. Highly recommended.
Cover (Vg) Difficult to find in decent condition - this one is acceptable. Clean surfaces with light wear. The main noticeable issue is a sticker removal mark top right. We've coloured it in in a sympathetic colour to try and nullify it somewhat. The interior looks great - no issues. There's a fair bit of edge wear as is typical on this title. It's most noticeable on the spine - which has been inked up to try and tidy it up. That's the only other slight let down on this cover. To be fair you can still pretty much still make out most of the text [just about!]. Overall the cover retain excellent rigidity in part thanks to the heavy card employed in manufacture.
Insert (Vg+) Lightest ageing [much better than you typically find]. A couple of creases.
