Description
Yup- Yet another Smashing Pumpkins item . A collectable for the Smashing pumpkins fan - this is the smashing pumpkins first full length LP on Caroline Records before they really hit it big. This vinyl was bought in 91’ and kept in a protective outter in a crate. It was actually sealed until kust now. of the top corners was dented a a tony bit so I did not want to sell it as Mint and decided to open it up and inspect it and play test it. There is not anything major at all and looks shiny and clean and reflective. Has minor scuffing from the custom paper sleeve probably. However it does not does not effect play I have to mention that I did discover a very visually seen scratch on one side aide. It goes from the start of the lead-in track and a little into the first track. Upon playing it on my rig everything sounded great even the area that is scratches but that area for me did provide a click-sound each time that particular area passed- it continues for about 90 seconds in total. I don’t personally find it a huge deal at all and it is only a portion of that sides initial track. I am glad I opened it do this could be disclosed before selling. so unfortunately I can’t list as brand new . so I would rate the side without the scratch is NM/EX the other side would be VG+. I pictured it in the very last image, please take a look if you’d like at all the pictures.
Minus the small dent that pushes one corner down just a smidge— —-it’s pretty excellent and still has the shrink tightly wrapped over all corners and both sides
What would appeal to the super fan and the collector about this particular 1st print vs. another reissue or release. This is one of the very first to be made and has the included custom sleeve which is pictured. It has Billy’s Dog pictured on one side with album/band member credits and the flip-side has an awesome pic of the full original line-up when they were barely in their 20s. It’s almost funny to see them so young- and Billy with long black hair vs. the cue ball look.
This is not a later year re-print or a re-mastering release. This is one of the first printed on 1991. The jacket is slightly different in regard to the art and color scheme that is currently being used on the recent reprinting. The newer prints skew the colors a bit and make it more of a holographic type image - this version is more like 1960s psychedelic bright colors for the band, vivid, against a dark backdrop that contraata. The band members ate easier to view in their facial features etc. Not a huge difference but it is the one I personally prefer.
This 1st print original version on Caroline Records label with the inner is definitely not cheap or very easy to get a hold of one as it is well sought-out and is probably the most limited of their albums as due to them not having an established huge popularity, not as many were printed on this release vs. their later more mainstream/majors albums. Time for a fan to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the smashing pumpkins off right !!
