The Smiths - 'Barbarism Begins At Home'

Catalogue No. - RTT 171 (UK 12" DJ Promo)

This is an INCREDIBLE example of this rare collectable Smiths 12".  Two different specially pressed 12" promos were sent to DJs in the UK, shortly befor the release of the "Meat Is Murder" album, in January 1985.  Both promo 12"s were numbered RTT171, but one featured the album version while the other also had a shorter version edited down to 3:48.

The item up for auction is the latter version with the shorter version on B.

This is the RARER of the two versions and was listed at number 24 in the Record Collector all-time 'SMITHS TOP 100 RARITIES' back in 1992, and was considered to be of significant value even then.  Listed at £30 over 13 years ago, the starting price is reflective of a reasonable asking price.

The condition can ONLY be described as MINT.  I'm extremely picky about condition, and I would say that the picture sleeve is a solid 9.5/10 as is the vinyl.  You will NOT be disappointed.  Seems are perfect, not creasing - just beautiful.

You would be hard-pressed to find a better example ANYWHERE.

Copies in the condition offered here are set to become increasingly sought-after and will appear less frequently on the market as interest in the Smiths back catalogue continues to grow.
