Description
This auction is for 1960 UK pressing of Message from New Orleans by Snooks Eaglin. Pressed on the Heritage Label it is a stated limited edition but does not specify how many were pressed. Some of these 60's Blues imports were only pressed in quantities of less than 100 to avoid taxation so this maybe a similar quantity. This copy has numerous light surface marks though some of the inconsistencies in the sheen might also be down to how the album was pressed. The first side plays with the odd crackle/ hiss in the quiet moments or between tracks though generally the playback is VG+ (no heavy distortion, jumps or pops) and does not detract from the vocals or guitar sound. The second side sounds better and free from any distortion, though again this may be down to the disc was mastered.
Overall a decent playing copy of this scarce New Orleans Blues long player. The Album comes in a heavy duty faux leather covered cardboard sleeve with a pasted paper cover. The leather seems a little curled up to the edges but this has not warped the record nor caused damage to the sleeve with is structurally fine (no heavy wear, ringer or seam slips etc). There is however a sticker of the cover and a name inscribed just about Snook's name and the base corners are lightly bumped. This disc usually sells well on Discogs so sorry not looking for a buy it now or to end the auction early. Thanks for looking.
