Description
Thanks to the Peel sessions this brilliant live recording was made available to the public through this Strange Fruit release. The album is from the sessions the group put down starting in 1969 through 1971 on the BBC John Peel show. Peel had a virtually free hand in who he wanted to book into the show so was able to get great talent on the air that were practically unknown or at least not main stream. Soft Machine were part of the 'underground' avant-garde music scene in the 70's, playing sold out gigs to their army of fans at the Roundhouse and other venues. All accomplished musicians, they were Jazz inflected and highly experimental in their musical approach. There was no other group like them. I saw them live. From my collection the record and sleeve are both in excellent condition. Only played a few times with a few small signs of wear around the edges of the sleeve.
