Description
On offer here is a copy of Third by The Soft Machine, released on the Orange CBS label in 1970, catalogue number 64080.
Soft Machine on this album were : Mike Ratledge Organ and Piano, Hugh Hopper Bass Guitar, Robert Wyatt Drums and Vocal, Elton Dean Alto Sax, Rab Spall Violin, Lyn Dobson Flute, Nick Evans Trumbone, and Jimmy Hastings Flute and Bass Clarinet.
The tracks are Facelift (Recorded Live at Fairfield Halls Croydon January 4th 1970 and Mothers Birmingham January 11th 1970), Slightly All The Time, Noisette, The Moon In June and Out - Bloody - Rageous.
The unlaminated gatefold cover made by the E J Day Group is in Excellent condition, with just a small patch of light shelf wear on the back top edge of the gatefold, and the spine is slightly lighter (see pictures).
Both the vinyls have retained a glossy shine to all sides and are unmarked, rated Excellent Plus and arguably higher than this. the matrix numbers are A1 B1 C1 and D1 indicating a first press.
The Orange CBS labels are clean and freah with no discernable spindle marks, with just a slight loss of a few letters of print on Side 2 (Please see pictures) but this was probably like this from new.
As if all this was not enough, included are the Original CBS Promo Inners advertising other artists of the time such as Santana, Moondog, Skin Alley and many more (see pictures).
These are both unsplit and in Excellent condition.
This is v a very difficult to find album especially in this sort of condition, now 45 years old but in amazing condition (I have had it for many years and always in a polythene cover).
The records will be sent outside of their cover in a polythene sleeve sandwiched between two 12" cardboard stiffeners in a heavy duty record mailer made by Covers 33.
