Description

This is the EXTREEMLY RARE and OUT OF PRINT original pressing of the first Songs: Ohia (Jason Molina) LP.  THIS VERSION FEATURES AN EXTRA SONG ON FOUND ON THE CD!!!  I love the whole album, but I really think the extra song is the most moving song on the album.  This is an extremely beautifully packaged record with a heavy silk-screened sleeve, a silk-screened12” insert, AND the sleeve has a faint watermark of the Songs: Ohia crossbow symbol on the back.  There some ring wear and some very minor bending on three of the corners. The vinyl is in mint condition.

This is number 406 of the 500 in the original pressing.  Each is hand-numbered inside.

Tracks:

CABWAYLINGO
CRAB ORCHARD
GAULEY BRIDGE
BLUE JAY
TENSKWATAWA
WHITE SULFUR
OUR REPUBLIC
BIG SEWELL MT.
COTTON HILL
DOGWOOD GAP

GREENBRIER (LP EXCLUSIVE TRACK!!!!)
LITTLE BEAVER
BLUE STONE
U.M.W. PENSION

From AMG:

Springing fully formed from the mind of singer/guitarist Jason Molina, this is one mature debut album. The instrumentation is just right: Molina knows exactly when to compliment his tenor guitar and haunting vocals with a touch of banjo and woodwinds. Likewise, Molina shows a brave restraint in places, stripping songs down to their bare minimum and allowing them fly or fall on their own power. This album paints with broad brushstrokes the territory that Molina explores in more detail with subsequent Songs: Ohia albums. With vaguely circular lyrical patterns and diction that seems to flow out of some as yet undiscovered folk tradition, these songs speak of love in terms of fear and exhilaration. — Jason Nickey
