Description
Up for your bidding is this 4-10"-disc 78rpm album from Asch International. Released by Moe Asch of Folkways records, this album celebrates Jewish culture. This album is so rare, I cannot find another copy of it anywhere and it is seldom referred to on the internet at all. The only other copy I have been able to locate is, quite literally, in the Library of Congress, and their edition only has three disc and this one has four.
The album is pre-1948, as the liner notes still speak of "Palestine" and not of the nation of Israel. The Library of Congress edition states that it's from the 1940s.
Disc One: Drei Techer/Reisele - Menasha Oppenheim (Yiddish)
Disc Two: Venn Di Zehn Vellen Kommen Tzurick/Ich Dank Dir Got Far America - Cantor Leibele Waldman (Yiddish)
Disc Three: Fartreibt Di Zorgen/Mirele - Seymour Rechzert/Harry Lubin Orch. (Freilach)
Disc Four: Bist Mir Mazeldig Ruchele/Ruzhinkes Mit Mondlin - Seymour Rechzert/Harry Lubin Orch. (Freilach)
I purchased this album at the Detroit Public Library vinyl sale recently, which was held to benefit the Azalia E. Hackley collection and the collection parted with some gems. I have been dealing in 78rpm records on eBay since 1998. Will be shipped soundly.
Album Jacket: You can see the wear and damage to the spine, there are the usual splits in the paper leaves. Battered a bit, but holding its own.
Vinyl: E+, very minty. The album jacket may have wear, but it protected the records very well.
I have been dealing in 78rpm records on eBay since 1998. Will be shipped soundly.
This is an auction, boys and girls. When the hammer falls, it is sold. There is no guarantee that this will just go "In my store (I haven't got one)" for you to get next week. He who hesitates is lost, so bid here if this is something you really want.
