ARTIST: Sonny Clark
LABEL: Blue Note 1579 (Mono)
TITLE: Sonny Clark
CONDITION:
Sleeve: VG+ / The front cover has clean bright lamination w/ some light wear. The front cover also has a small very light stain at the top right corner, a light 3" line/crease at middle left and the bottom left corner has a light curve. The back cover has some light ring wear, a little light staining at the bottom corners and some tiny light tears at the top of the back cover slick. The top seam has a few tiny nicks and 1/2" splits at the corners. The bottom seam has some light wear, a few tiny nicks, a 3/8" split at the right corner and a tiny split at the left corner. The spine has some light wear.
Record: Looks great w/ high original gloss and some very light mostly superficial surface marks. I play graded this entire LP. It plays mostly VG+ to VG++ w/ some light random surface noise and great sound presence. However there are some light background ticks on Track 2, Side A from a tiny light scratch. Track 2, Side B also has some light background ticks and Track 3 has some light background surface noise. / VPI cleaned
COMMENTS: So I think this is one of those Blue Note hybrids. It has 47 West 63rd NYC labels without the R but does not have deep groove on either label. Has RVG stamper on both sides but no "ear" and BN-LP-1579-A... stampers/ BN-LP-1579-B... Also has 47 Wst 63rd New York 23 address on bottom of the back cover
Hard to find & classic Blue Note trio LP from the legendary Sonny Clark

I recently picked up a nice collection of Jazz LP’s including lots of Free Jazz, Avant Garde and Spiritual Jazz. I’ll be listing some in the upcoming weeks and months mixed in with my usual mix of cool & eclectic selections.
NOTE: VPI cleaned means that this record was cleaned on a professional $500 cleaning machine, which does wonders for the playback of all vinyl records!
