Description
Well after many years doing auctions on eBay, I think I'm going to start listing inventory here, without an auction. Priorly, I've always started all auctions at $4.99, but right now I have a lot of records sitting around to comb through, so I think I'll just list a handful every weekend when I can.
So this is completely insane, I know, but I've come across two of these in my life. And I got a slightly better copy, so I'm letting go of this rarity. And when I say rare, I mean rare ... I think I'm a really special case to have found two. And this copy plays really good. It's not quite solid VG+ status, but it certainly earns a lower VG+ sound quality status.
More below:
____________________________________________________________________
Vinyl: (VG (~6.8 of 10): So visually I can't give it a VG+. There's some small marks here and there, and a few long, dull marks. You can tell by the label this copy was played. Deep groove, maroon label magic. Well played, but not abused. Still has a great gloss, like the cover, and the sound quality is a weaker VG+. Sound does shine through well, but has some background noise -- no ticking for me really. Overall, it plays closer to an older Blue Note in that the sound overpowers for the most part. I tried to photograph the worst of the "scratches." Overall, it's a nicely preserved copy. But not top 10% material.
Cover: VG (6.0 of 10): I give it credit for the age. Shows it's age, but still has beautiful art, and the back escaped time quite nicely. There is some splitting: 3" top opening; 4" bottom opening, and another 1" in the middle of the bottom seam. Spine is nice. There's some evidence of past marker on the front too. Overall also quite nice though.
VINYL WEIGHT: 148g-150g
Additional Notes: I mean ... where else are you gonna find this? No movement on price. _____________________________________________________________________
Regarding Grading: I always use the standard G-VG+ scale. I, however, absolutely never use the word "mint" because I don't believe I've ever found a mint record -- even sealed ones. The highest I go is VG+. I use a number system to get a bit more specific.
The number: my number system gets a bit more granular. For the record, it's meant to reflect more the audio quality and overall aesthetic. For the cover, it reflects overall preservation, gloss, and damage, if there is any.
A few notes about quality, purchasing, and shipping:
* I always vacuum clean my records. They've all gone through a three step solution process with a vacuum cleaning machine I built.
** All records are shipped in record boxes.
*** All records are shipped with a plastic sleeve, and the records will be shipped OUTSIDE the cover.
Shipping is a standard $4 domestic, and by weight international ... so CHECK YOU INTERNATIONAL PEOPLE. Shipping is expensive these days -- don't shoot the messenger.
