Description
Sonny Rollins - A Night At The "Village Vangaurd"
(Blue Note Records BST 81581 USA Stereo LP 1957)
This is a late 1960's USA Stereo LP pressing, circa 1967. It has a heavyweight matte sleeve which has the "Liberty Records..." credit on the front sleeve. This is at the bottom spine area. It comes with a period UK polythene lined inner sleeve. The record is pressed on thick vinyl & has
blue & white "Blue Note" labels. These have the "A Division Of Liberty..." text. The labels are slightly grooved also. The matrix numbers are as follows:
Side 1: BNST-81581-A
Side 2: BNST-81581-B
There are no other markings in the dead wax areas. This is a genuine late 1960's USA Stereo pressing of this excellent Hard Bop/ Cool Jazz LP. The quality of late 60's U.S. pressings is still extremely good. They are the best alternative to pricey 1st Pressings/ Early pressings. The sleeve is a little bit worn on this copy. However, the vinyl is quite nice and clean. Playback is Very Near Excellent to Excellent+ overall too.
I have some other rare & collectable 1960's, early 1970's Jazz LP's for sale too. So please see my other listings.
Sleeve: There is some mild, moderate to considerable rubbing wear to the top & bottom edges. This has caused a 6 cm seam split along the top edge, at the sleeve opening. There is some mild or very mild fading to the white of the rear sleeve. There is some light, mild, very mild or more moderate rubbing wear, & hairline cracking on the spine face (see photo). There is mild, more moderate or considerable rubbing wear to the corner tips. There is light, mild or more moderate ringwear on some areas. Overall, Good+ condition
Vinyl: There is an extremely light 6 cm hairline surface rub mark on Side 1. It is barely visible under a strong light, & can only be seen when the record is angled a certain way under a strong light. There is a 1.5 cm surface rub mark on Side 1. Otherwise, there are some light, very mild or very minor sleeve rubs which can barely be seen under a strong light. The inner sleeve, over time, has left some light, very mild or very minor dull surface marks on some areas. These, again, can hardly be seen under a strong light. Overall, Near Excellent condition. The labels are in Excellent+ condition & show minimal spindle wear only. The period UK polythene-lined inner sleeve is in Very Good condition. There is some light, mild or very mild ringwear, fading & creasing. There are no seam splits.
I have fully play tested this LP. It plays Very Near Excellent to Excellent overall & Excellent+ in many places. There is some light, very mild or very minor crackle in a few quieter places. Overall, a great audio copy!
