Sonny Rollins ' Newk's time ' BLUE NOTE BLP 4001 (USA) mono blue-white 47W63rd label with deep groove - no 'Inc' and no 'R' - rec. in NY on September 22, 1957 - original first 1959 pressing - on bottom of back cover has the address 47W 63rd and has no 'Inc' - on trail-off (dead wax) has stamped 'RVG' and has the 'ear'. Also has '9M' on both sidesSonny Rollins : tenor sax - Wynton Kelly : piano - Doug Watkins : bass - Philly Joe Jones : drums
Side 1 : Tune up (M.Davis) - Asiatic raes (K.Dorham) - Wonderful wonderful! (Raleigh-Edwards) Side 2 : They surrey with the fringe on top (Rodgers-Hammerstein) - Blues for Philly Joe (Rollins) - Namely you (Mercer-DePaul)
Please, before bidding, read carefully the description of the record condition
Visual grading : record is Good- to Good much used with evident wear but without big faults. There are a couple of feelable scratches on side 1 and other two small scratches on side 2 (first on track 1, second on track 2). More record has many unfeelable scuffs and wispy lines on both sides. Labels have some fading on titles and around the deep groove. Also some small tears on both labels (see pictures)
Playing grading : record is Very Good- on side 1 which plays fairly well with just some crackling always below music's level, and very few light occasional ticks. Side 2 plays Good with more audible light crackling especially on quieter passages. Also few light occasional ticks and a couple of tocks. This rare record, usually sold for a big price in nice condition, even with its faults is still enjoyable and has a good listening Cover grading : cover is VG+ has light wear to corners, edges and to spine which has all titles fully readable. Laminated front cover is nice and has the right corners lightly bumped. Back cover has light rubbing
