Description

Sonny Rollins      A Night At The Village Vanguard    Blue Note 1581   mono 47 West 63rd NYC Label  Deep Groove

Sonny Rollins (ts) Wilbur Ware, Donald Bailey (b) Pete LaRoca, Elvin Jones (d) Recorded 1957

Label is "47 West 63rd NYC"  and deep groove on both sides.  "RVG" and "The Ear" aka "P"  in the runout on both sides.  The record is groove guard as flat edge was phased out about 20 numbers earlier. No "Inc" and no "R" on label.  Back cover does not have an address.  There is no printing on the spine.

Record looks VG++ and plays strong and beautiful at VG++ and a little better on Side 2.  A nice copy of a classic album. Some light noise during the bass solo on Side 1 "Softly". Some light scuffs on both sides. Vinyl does not show significant wear.  No scratches.

Cover is VG

Front cover still glossy and shows some light wear.  Main problem with the cover that keeps it from being a strong VG+ is that the top at the pocket is "chewed" away app 1/4 and there is damage and heavy wear there with seam split app 1/2 inch. All other seams are OK. Small spots of heavy wear at the other corners, especially the bottom at the pocket app 1/4 inch. Back cover shows moderate wear and some very small indentations near the "chew".  Spine is intact.  No writing.

I WILL BE RUNNING WEEKLY AUCTIONS OF 50s and 60s JAZZ LPS INC. BLUE NOTE  1500s PRESTIGE NYCs TRANSITIONS ETC. MANY WEEKS AND SOME HIGH END ITEMS TO COME.

My highest grade is M- and I rarely grade 50s or records M-. Records are graded visually using the Goldmine system. I play grade any potential problem areas.  I attempt to grade conservatively, listing all significant flaws. You will be satisfied.  No hassles.
