Description
Sonny Rollins- Saxophone Colossus- Prestige, PRLP 7079
Runout information:
Side A: PRLP-7079-A AB B RVG
Side B: PRLP-7079-B AB RVG A
Condition:
Record: Fair (F): This record has a lot of heavy scuffing and scratching to it, but seems to play without any skips or sticks. That said, there is strong noise throughout. This wouldn't make the best play copy of this record, unless you really do not mind hisses or pops at all and have a record player that is specifically for playing battered records.
Cover: Good (G): This cover has strong splitting on all sides, with the top seem fully split, and the spine mostly split, corner wear, creasing, strong scuffing and scratching, heavy staining, heavy tearing, abrasions, and a lot of long-since dried tape residue.
Notes: Turquoise/ green-tinted blue cover variation; flat edge pressing; has "RVG" in the runout; original deep groove "446 W. 50th ST., N. Y. C." fireworks Prestige labels.
This is a fantastic album from Sonny Rollins featuring a brilliant lineup. This title deserves a spot in every record collection. This copy is notably the very rare original flat edge pressing with the deep groove "446 W. 50th ST., N. Y. C." Prestige fireworks labels. This copy also has the turquoise/ green-tinted blue cover variation, which is believed by many to be the very first pressing (although there is some debate as to whether or not these were just pressed at the same time as copies with the more common lighter blue covers, it is known that all the represses of this title with catalogue number PRLP 7079 on Prestige have the lighter blue covers, and all the copies with this darker cover variation contain the original pressing, suggesting that this variation is in fact the absolute earliest for this title). This copy unfortunately is pretty worn, with a lot of heavy scuffing and scratching to it, but did play without any skips or sticks when I test played it. Whether or not this is true for all turntables and whether or not you'd want to play this copy on all turntables is unclear, though.

Shipping:
I sadly do not offer any shipping to addresses that are outside of the United States. Sorry.
Shipping is $3.99 via USPS Media Mail.
Due to my job, my weekly window for shipping items out is rather limited. That's why I have 10 business days shipping and handling. I don't always need all that time, but my schedule is restrictive, so sometimes I really do take that long to ship an item out.
Feel free to check out my other listings. I'll be listing a lot of stuff over the next couple months to help offset the cost of a necessary transmission rebuild for my '65 Dart GT a little. You may get lucky and find something you want. If not, hopefully you'll still have a nice day.
