Description
Hello! This is an auction for a copy of Sonny Rollins, Vol. 2 by Sonny Rollins on Blue Note, catalogue number BLP 1558. This is the very rare first pressing from 1957 on the deep groove New York 23 labels (both sides) with eccentric runout grooves and both "RVG" and the Plastylite "ear" in the deadwax on both sides. The record has some scuffs and scratches and plays with a bit of noise throughout, but is still a very enjoyable listen. I test-played it in it's entirety, and it does not skip at any point. I am conservatively grading it Good+ (G+), but others would likely grade it higher. The cover has taped splits and looks a bit odd to me, so I think it might be a replacement cover. This release also features Jay Jay Johnson on the trombone, Horace Silver on the piano, Thelonious Monk, also on the piano, Paul Chambers on bass, and Art Blakey on drums. This is a great recording, and this very first pressing is only rarely seen for sale. Good luck!
