Description
This is the original deep groove RVG-etched “P”-pressing of “Sonny Rollins” on the Lexington Ave. labels of Blue Note BLP 1542. The flat rim playing surface has a nice luster; the intro to Side 1 has seven tics; Side 2 has seven intermittent tics near the intro; occasional tics throughout, while the music comes through crisp and clear. The original coated West 63rd frame cover (Rollins is upright) is clean and bright throughout; very faint writing at the top of the back slick; superficial rubbing/flaking on the seams; ¼” wear on the bottom seam, at the opening. Personnel include Donald Byrd, Wynton Kelly, Gene Ramey, and Max Roach. $300.00.
