Description

Original deep-groove "ear" pressing of Sonny Rollins' self-titled LP on the Lexington Avenue labels of Blue Note BLP 1542.  The flat-rim playing surface shows some superficial marks but plays as new; very light foxing on the labels.  The rare, non-laminated cover has the West 63rd Street address (Blue Note did not print covers for BLP 1542 with a Lexington Avenue address) and shows the correct positioning of the artwork (often turned ninety degree to the left so that "blue note 1542" is at the bottom:  1 1/4" split to the bottom seam, at the opening; 1/4" wear to the top seam, at the spine; rubbing to all seams, with varing degrees of flaking/rubbing of the coating color - but no splits or significant paper wear; light foxing to the back slick.
