Description
Before Badmotorfinger. Before Superunknown. Before radio knew what to do with them.
Ultramega OK is raw Soundgarden — Sabbath weight, punk urgency, Cornell already bending steel with his voice. This is the sound of Seattle before the industry realized it was about to get swallowed.
The 2017 Sub Pop edition is the one to own. Jack Endino remixed the album to match the band’s original vision, giving it more punch and clarity than the original ‘88 mix. And the second LP includes the full Ultra Mega EP — early cuts, alternate takes, and the DNA of what they would become.
This isn’t nostalgia grunge.
This is proto-heavy history.
If you collect Soundgarden, this belongs next to Badmotorfinger and Superunknown — it completes the arc.
