Giorgio Fabor, stage name of Fabio Borgazzi, also known by the pseudonym Fabio Fabor (Milan, 24 April 1920 – 3 August 2011), was an Italian composer and conductor.
After graduating in musical composition, orchestral conducting and piano at the Giuseppe Verdi Conservatory of Music in his hometown, he collaborated with various artists such as Carlo Savina, Oscar Rocchi, Giancarlo Barigozzi, Marco Tutino, Carlo Donida, Riccardo Pazzaglia, Gian Carlo Testoni and many others. One of his first successes was in 1948 with Ancora, performed by Flo Sandon's. He participated as an author, also signing as Fabio Fabor, in five editions of the Sanremo Festival between 1952 and 1962, achieving the best placing in the 1958 edition with Amare un'altra, performed by Gino Latilla and Nilla Pizzi, which ranked third, later reinterpreted by Iva Zanicchi.
For Italian cinema he made his debut as a composer of soundtracks in 1950, for three short documentaries directed by Dino Risi and Luigi Comencini. In 1956 he composed the music for Poveri ma belli, also directed by Risi, which was a box office hit, and until 1970 he collaborated on about fifteen films, some of which were quite successful, sometimes credited as Georg or Jorge Fabor. He was also a consultant and organizer for several record companies, and later also worked for television.
His last collaboration was in the documentary film Rughe (2009) by Francesco D'Ascenzo, screened posthumously two years later, where he appeared together with other musicians such as Lelio Luttazzi, Roberto Pregadio, Franco De Gemini and Stefano Torossi. He died in August 2011 at the age of 91[1].
