Stackwaddy - Bugger Off!

Well, those of you who are expecting a record showing fine musical taste and refinement can leave right now! Nothing like that on show here, instead you get wild, unsubtle, aggressive rock of the most unrefined kind, imagine the Sonics hailing from a Manchester building site after listening to Black Sabbath and that’s what you get. Hard uncompromising untutored garage rock with a basement production which makes the most of their thunderous rhythm section, grinding fuzz and wild vocals, as John Peel‘s excellent sleeve notes suggest this is music which is naked, real and very exciting. Wonder what they’re doing now? Why are there no bands like this now?

Sleeve:
Single sleeve format, unlaminated, matt finish, manufactured by MacNeill Press.
The front sleeve is in fine shape. It’s extremely clean with no tears, writing anywhere, there is the very beginnings of a circular impression where the disc sits but that apart it’s hard to find anything negative to say, this is a sleeve which is often found dirty and torn but to have a nice clean copy to offer is a real pleasure.
The rear sleeve is if anything even better than the front, very clean, no tears, no writing, no creases and no ringwear at all, this is as good as you could reasonably hope for.
The spine is clean and wide and totally unworn with all of the writing clearly readable.
The top seam is totally unworn.
The bottom seam is also totally unworn.
Record:
The record itself is also in fine shape. It’s very clean and has a lovey dark reflective sheen. When viewed under normal light there are a few very very light hairline marks on each side, not sure what’s caused these as they’re heavier than the sort of marks caused by taking the record in and out of the sleeve but not heavy enough to be really any damage of any sort, whatever caused them they are totally superficial and totally inaudible. Viewed under a harsh lamp and there are only those hairline marks visible on each side.
The two labels are in fine condition, both are very clean with no writing, tears or stickers anyhere and no discernible spindle wear, all of the writing is clearly readable. The matrix numbers stamped into the dead wax are SVRL 19040 11Y and 2Y1.
When played the record is as good as you could hope for with a clean clear sound right across the full dynamic range which showcases the deep full bass and fuzz sound. There is no hint of any groovewear or distortion anywhere, not that you would be able to notice it if there were, this is not the most subtle of music! There are four light pops on “Hoochie Coochie Man” which are below the level of the music and so don’t spoil your enjoyment too much, that aside the only surface noise evident for the full length of the record is the occasional and very very very light crackle between tracks, not between every track you understand, just very occasionally.
This isn’t the easiest record to find in any condition, I’ve had a few copies over the years and almost all have had damage of some kind to the sleeve and usually heavy surface marks too, I think this is only the second copy I’ve had (other than my own copy) which could genuinely be described as excellent condition and as such it‘s a real joy to be able to offer it.

I’d prefer cheques from UK buyers but paypal is available if necessary, overseas buyers must use paypal. I’m not responsible for any parcel after it leaves my hands, I will hav eproof that the parcel as posted and will help in any way I can in any dispute between you and the postal authorities but the decision on whether to insure a parcel or not is yours and as such the responsibility for the parcel is yours too.
