Description

Up for sale is an exceptional piece of traditional American roots music history: an original 1955 10-inch shellac 78 RPM pressing of the legendary The Stanley Brothers and The Clinch Mountain Boys performing "So Blue" b/w "You'd Better Get Right" on the iconic Mercury Records label (Catalog #70612). Featuring the absolute pinnacle of mid-50s mountain harmony and blistering traditional string instrumentation, original 78 RPM pressings from their coveted Mercury era are highly sought after and difficult to find. Genre: Traditional Bluegrass / Classic Country / Mountain Roots Condition Details (Strict Visual Grading Only):

  • Visual Grade: Good (G) to Very Good (VG)
  • Shellac Surface: The record looks good overall and retains nice surface gloss. It displays typical, visible light surface scratches and standard paper sleeve scuffs from handling over the years. Crucially, there are absolutely no deep scratches, no cracks, no chips, and no edge gouges.
  • Center Labels: The classic deep black Mercury labels with the gold typography and ring are fully intact and legible. Please note there is vintage handwriting/writing on both labels.
  • Audio Disclaimer: Please note this record is being sold based on visual grading only and has not been play-tested. Expect typical, authentic vintage 78 RPM surface noise and background crackle.
