Description

Stanley Cowell Trio - Illusion Suite LP on ECM Records from 1973 out of the United States. Original US 1st Press.

Condition - The record shows little to no hints of wear and grades at NM. Record looks beautiful and plays with no static or noise. The jacket shows minor signs of wear and grades at VG+. There are no seam splits, spine tears, punch holes, or cut corners. Overall, grade is NM/VG+.

Shipping - We ship records using professional mailers, protective pads, and packing materials. Records are separated from the jacket and shipped outside the jacket in protective sleeves in order to avoid seam splits or spine tears during transit. Shipping generally takes 3-5 business days.

Grading - We grade using the goldmine standard and exclusively selling records of quality M (Mint), NM (Near Mint), NM- (Near Mint Minus), VG+ (Very Good Plus), VG (Very Good), and VG- (Very Good Minus). Only records that are sealed can be considered M (Mint). Everything is played tested and visually assessed before a final grading.

Comments - Another oddball release from ECM Records. Stanley Cowell comes with a trio and impresses with his diverse dive in to another jazz format. Similar to the likes of Lonnie Liston Smith, there's an element of jazz fusion with this record which is very relevant to the ECM sound. There are definitely some evocative elements of early 70s modal jazz but it still retains the classic Stanley Cowell most know from his famous Strata East recordings like Musa or Regeneration. If one has heard the album "Blues For The Viet Cong," I would say that this record is comparable to that in sound with less elements of the avant-garde. A very nice recording and harder to find ECM record; a great find for any spiritual jazz collector.
