RARE Star Trek Promo Item:  Radio Promotional Interview LP with Scripts for Star Trek: The Motion Picture.  1979.  Mint Minus condition.  Original.

While working in Radio in 1979, our station received this LP with the hopes that our on-air personailties (aka: DJs) would create "interviews" with the cast members from Star Trek: the Motion Picture.  If you are not familar with the concept, it's quite simple and was used quite frequently by the industry.  The On-Air Personality (aka: the DJ) would read the question from the attached script on tape and then edit the response from the cast member which was recorded on the LP.  It gave the impression that your station had personal interviews with the cast members.  Promotional magic!  Good for the station...Good for the movie!

However, the station that I was working at didn't feel that such interviews were in-sync with our format, so the interviews were never done and I ended up with the LP & scripts.  I have played the interviews only once and that was on my linear tracking Bang & Olfsson turntable.  Visually, the vinyl appears that it has never been played.  The labels are in great condition.  

Scripts and interviews are included for William Shatner, Leonard Nimoy, Gene Roddenberry, DeForest Kelly, James Doohan, George Takei, Persis Khambatta & Stephen Collins.  There is also a letter to the stations on the back cover (it is captured in the shrink wrap) from the promotion company.

For you Star Trek fans, here's a rare opportunity to "create " your own one-on-one interviews with the Cast.  Think about it......  You could create interviews with the Legends of Star Trek  (some who are no longer with us) and absolutely blow away your friends and family!  WOW!    

This obviously is a limited-release item.  I don't know how many were issued, but I have never seen one listed before.  I forgot that it was in my record library and just stumbled upon it recently.  I worked many years in television where my stations ran Star Trek Marathons and we did multiple promotional events with Fan Clubs and at Conventions.  I am a fan, but realize that this item could be an absolute gem to a true Star Trek disciple.  It's time for me to pass it on.

This item is available for sale worldwide.  Please be advised that it will be packed very carefully.  Over the past three decades, I have sold records to collectors all over the world.  I'm just a collector myself, but I have sent LP's to over 100 prople around the globe during that time.  Only once was an item damages in shipping and that happened last year.  The LP was going to the Netherlands and it was sent insured.  I didn't know that the LP was damaged until I read the first and only negative feedback that I have ever received on Ebay.  The buyer never contacted me.  I tried twice to contact them with no resppnse.  I wanted to know what the box looked like when it arrived and if they filed for the insurance claim, but I received no response.  That same week I sent LPs packaged the exact same way to three other buyers in Europe and Asia.  Never a problem.  I suspect that something out of the ordinary happened and something very heavy was dropped on it.  It upset me to the point that I stopped selling on Ebay for quite a while.  I didn't like getting the red mark without a chance to fix the problem!  It's behind me now and I promise you that I will package this and every other shipment with even greater care than ever before.  Please buy with confidence!
