Description

This RIAA award plaque was presented to radio personality Eric Chase when he was program director of Ten-Q AM radio station in the Los Angeles area. He had picked out the MECO tunes as hits and promoted them on the air so Millennium records presented him with a gold 45 RPM single of the Star Wars Theme/Cantina Band. He gave it to my late wife's longtime best friend, Hope Nielsen, who has passed away. Her husband has asked me to help him sell it. It is in very good shape, the only flaw being that the brown paper which sealed the back is torn away about 3/4 of the way around, but still 99% present, one small (1" square) piece at top by the hanger missing. A small patch shows water was once dropped on the paper but quickly cleaned, and did not seem to affect the mounting board inside, see pics. The two irregular spots near the top of the back of the mounting board appear to be drops of glue that had gotten paper/board flattened and retained some of the material in the surface. A very slight discoloration that is more visible to the camera than the eye appears to be some tobacco staining that got through the torn places in the paper. One could probably use masking or paper tape to repair the back but I've left it alone in case someone wants to take it to a professional framer for proper restoration. Display side is XLNT. There's no damage to the inner parts. The only thing I did before taking pics was clean the glass.
