Description
One of the most difficult Stax LP's to locate. Stax LP 702 Treasured Hits From The South Presented By Nick Charles. This is the second cover version with the light blue Stax label. Cover is VG overall showing soiling, edge wear, 9" bottom seam split, back cover has some of the top edge lifting up, two bent corners, and two dinged corners, spine has a bend in the center, but no writing or funny stuff, check the pics, not as bad as the description makes it sound. If you stick it in a record bag it looks pretty good. LP vinyl has clean labels with no writing, but has light scratches and paper scuffs from moving in and out of a paper sleeve. Some audible crackle in background, a few pops, but overall vinyl is VG- no skips. Overall has good sheen and fidelity. But like I say, you've already heard all the tunes, an interesting various artist collection bridging both Stax and Sun titles, this is a collectors item for collectors of Stax records. Scarce in any condition. One recently went for $550 on eBay. Mine is priced less due to the conditon, not mint, but still a good copy to fill a gap in your collection. Numerically this is the next Stax LP in their catalog after Green Onions by Booker T. and the MG's, which was Stax LP 701. Also of note, Gus Cannon's super rare Walk Right In LP also used the same catalog number Stax LP 702, however Gus Cannon does not appear on this collection. All sales are final.
