What a GREAT band that made so many GREAT LPs via the collaborative song-writing talents of Donald Fagan and Walter Becker!!! And in this auction is their FIFTH LP!! THIS IS 1 of 5 STEELY DAN WHITE LABEL PROMO LPs FROM MY PERSONAL COLLECTION UP FOR BIDS TO GO TO A NEW HOME! This LP was just one in a string of LPs that followed their 1st landmark LP, “Can’t Buy A Thrill”, and “Countdown to Ecstasy”, “Pretzel Logic”, and “Katy Lied” that kept Steely Dan in the forefront of Rock & Roll music during the 1970s and beyond. In this auction is “THE ROYAL SCAM”. This is ABC Records ABCD 931 released in 1976. This is the WHITE LABEL PROMO COPY of the LP. The label states that it is a “PROMOTIONAL COPY”. As you know promotional records were pressed in very limited quantities and only made available to special people in the industry and to the DJs at the Radio Stations for on-air play. This makes them VERY sought after due to their rarity and limited quantities. This LP has 9 GREAT cuts including: “The Caves of Altamira”, “Sign in Stranger”, “The Fez”, “Green Earrings”, “Haitian Divorce”, “Everything You Did” and “The Royal Scam”. While “Don’t Take Me Alive” and “Kid Charlemagne” are the cuts from this LP that received the most airplay, you know the WHOLE LP IS SIMPLY EXCELLENT! (In fact, what Steely Dan LP wasn’t simply excellent?) In terms of condition, the VINYL IS IN BEAUTIFUL NEAR MINT CONDITION. THE COVER IS IN NICE VG+ CONDITION with some very light wear on the cover and corners and a clipped/notched corner designating the record as promotional. It also comes with its custom photo/lyric cardboard inner sleeve. Who knows when another copy in this nice condition will come along!
