Description
This is from my personal collection - I bought it new in 1978. Time to sell this and a few other MFSL and special edition LP's. Please also see my other auctions.
I am the only person that has ever handled this LP. It was lovingly played in the early 1980s on a Kenwood KD500 turntable equipped with an Infinity Black Widow Tonearm and a Micro Acoustics 2002e or Grado F1+ cartridge. A very high-end setup in those days. I can't stress enough how carefully I cared for my vinyl. Light (1.5 rotations) cleaning with a Discwasher before every play, never left out to get dusty, and always properly stored in the original sleeve and jacket. Regularly checked turntable setup (tracking force, speed, anti-skating, stylus cleanliness and condition). Baby came in 1985, so this has been on the shelf ever since.
As you can see from the photos, everything is there, is original and is in excellent condition, except it is missing the external plastic jacket cover. It is also does not have the usual cardboard insert I see in my other MFSL LP's. For some reason, it did not come with one - don't know if that is normal, or if it is missing. I know I did not discard it!! Unfortunately, I took the plastic off of the jacket and there are some fingerprints (almost invisible) on the jacket exterior, and rubbing on the lower edge - but no tears, scuffs or major problems.
The spine has a 1/8 inch scuff that obscures the letters "SL" in "MFSL", but is otherwise perfect. Good corners, 2 are perfect.
The disc itself is beautiful. If I were going to guess, I'd say that I've played it between 5 and 10 times. I last played it in 1985, and it was still mint. I have no reason to believe it is not just as good today, but I don't have a turntable to be sure. To my eyes under a bright light, it looks near perfect - no scuffs and no scratches.
