Description
Mobile Fidelity MFSL 1-007 Steely Dan: Katy Lied. I remember buying this in the 80s at some point, I collected as much Mobile Fidelity as I could, and this title was super hard to find back in the day.
Cover: shows pretty heavy shelf wear with a tear about 2.5" in the top seam (see photos). Includes the original cardboard stiffening insert and the lp comes in the beautiful Mobile Fidelity rice paper sleeve. The lp appears flawless, I am sure there are scuff marks if the light is right. Label area has a smudge (presumably from the used record price sticker) and there is a ring around the spindle hole where my Ariston record clamp would leave a mark (this is not a sign of abuse!). I treated this with audiophile care since it came into my possession.
The LP: I played through side 1 just recently and found minor surface noise between tracks but nothing obtrusive during the music. There was a pop during "Doctor Wu" at the end of side 1. I would expect side 2 to be the same as visually it is, there is probably a tick and pop here and there with minor low level surface noise. I had not played this in decades and the surfaces were much quieter than I remembered...by system is better than it was in the 80s and 90s now, and the better your playback gear, the less intrusive some elements of vinyl noise can be.
Photos are of the actual item.
