Description

An original Mono 1st press of THE SECOND on the UK Stateside label from 1968. Matrix A-1G/B-1G. Stampers 1-R/1-R - putting it within the first 1,000 copies ever pressed. The heavy set vinyl comes house in an original mono cover printed by Garrod & Lofthouse with flipbacks.
Vinyl (Ex-) Looks in really nice condition and has only seen light use. Under close inspection there are a couple of light marks either side - nothing troublesome though. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals a NEAR EXCELLENT level of playback. Intros and inbetwens are quiet and the audio comes across with great clarity. Interference is only light and pretty infrequent. You'll only notice a bit of light static in a couple of the quieter tracks - nothing remotely invasive. As one of the last Mono copies to roll of the presses it's a testament to how great the format was at resolving sound. Being so close to the original masters is, no doubt, also helping here..
Cover (Vg+) In very nice condition and has been cared for down the years. Nice shiny front with only a couple of creases. The rear, as is so often the case, is exhibiting a bit of ageing and a few creases - nothing unsightly though. Please note there's a name in the top-left. Edge wear is reasonably light except for a 1 inch section on the bottom seam where it has worn through. Overall the cover retains very good rigidity.
