Too often overlooked, this is a great, great solid album that, once you get your listening teeth into, will definitely pull you right in - many tracks here are serious highlights … with not a bad track in the bunch ... centered on killer melodic sensibilities with deep 60s vibe and infectious sounds,… surprisingly lysergic, full of atmosphere, power and subtlety - also augmented on select songs by NICKY HOPKINS and PAUL McCARTNEY.

Indeed a particular factor contributes mightily to this incredible late ’60s, Acid-tinged, mind gardens sound: PAUL McCARTNEY.

The tracks "Celebration Song" and "My Dark Hour" famously featured McCartney on bass guitar, backing vocals and drums (credited as ‘Paul Ramon’). Maca’s presence and influence upon the sessions goes deeper than the specific tracks he laid down his own riffs and voice. It was a rare and extremely fruitful merging of especially tasteful San Francisco Psychedelic sound with shared vision and instincts from the UK’s most notable rock composer, well into the height of his Psychedelic / Flower Power phase.

Paul McCartney’s heavy bass, drums and vocals add a powerful pulsing weight to the scorching psych nugget "My Dark Hour”.

"Space Cowboy”, of course, is another of the the album’s top highlights, complete with Moog synthesizer space sounds, and an excellent guitar solo from Miller -- Literally far out in orbit! "LT's Midnight Dream" is a fantasy feast, with lyrics like "got a bulldog in my Lear Jet, gonna teach him how to fly"! (‘LT’ by the way, is Lonnie Turner, never a Lieutenant).  "Can't You Hear Your Daddy's Heartbeat?" is a full-charge cry of pent-up, passionate love. "Kow Kow" (aka "Kow Kow Calqulator”), is possibly the finest track on this superb album (and would have been a fabulous fit on Abbey Road, if done by The Beatles) combines more fantasy lyrics with a deep and lysergic atmosphere. (Nicky Hopkins really shines on this one!).

BRAVE NEW WORLD released in 1969, abounds with references to celebrations and tripping, making this one of the sunniest, trippiest albums of the psychedelic era. (Even the album cover is that bold sunny yellow!) Opening the title track (and the album) is a blast - literally, a bomb blast which heralds the start of both a gorgeous song and a bright new hopeful beginning for the world at large. Then, great drumming by Tim Davis kick-starts "Celebration Song”, another wonderful vision of a world at play. "Got Love 'Cause You Need It" sounds like it's sung by Miller's infamous Gangster of Love character, full of danger and seduction, while "Seasons" is a spacious, acoustic ballad, steeped in atmosphere - as heartfelt a track as Stevie Guitar Miller has ever recorded.

…I utterly love the 2 albums that came before, but to me, this is Miller’s masterpiece.

the only 2 possible reasons to not grab this album for your 1960s Psych Collection 1: I never really knew much about this album before. 2. I already have it.
