It is with great pleasure we present you this album “Family Circle”. We at Stokely Chapel Church feel that we are brothers and sisters in the greatest family, God’s Family.
Our church is filled with an abundance of talent. We are sharing a variety of this with you.
The Stokely Chapel Harmoneers have been singing together as a group 2½ years. They have traveled many miles to spread God’s Word in song and testimony. The group consists of Brother Houston McGaha, Mr. & Mrs. Eugene McGaha, and Sister Kathy Sturm. Houston sings lead and tenor for this group, as well as singing tenor for The Chapman Family and The Shelley Family. Eugene gives the bass tones to the quartet; his wife June sings alto; and Kathy, the oldest of the Chapman children, sings lead, plays piano, and sings wherever needed in the other groups.
The Chapman Family consist of our Pastor Artie Chapman, Nina his wife; Michael and Kathy Sturm, son-in-law and daughter; and Bro. Houston McGaha. Brother Chapman has been pastor of Stokely Chapel Church 22 years. He started in a one room school house and we are at present in a chapel which seats 1000. Our hearts have been blessed many times hearing the Word of God from him. Listening to Sister Chapman sing “Amazing Grace” as only she can do, and Bro. Mike also a deacon of the church singing “Rainbow After The Storm”, gives our life the added assurance that he does take care of His children.
The Shelley Family consist of my husband Jim Shelley, myself Frances Shelley; and Bro. Houston and Sister Kathy. Jim and I are privileged to be a part of Stokely Chapel. Jim is a deacon, choir director and Sunday School teacher, I am pleased to serve the church as organist and Training Union Director. As we do “Sweet Beulah Land” I pray the sound of Jim playing the trumpet will touch you, reminding you of the day to come when Gabriel will blow his trumpet.
The newest of the group at Church is Preacher Chapman and The Stokely Chapel Boys. Preacher Chapman, his son Ronnie, and Brother Robert Henderson make up this trio of voices. The old time hymns they’ve chosen and the bluegrass string instrument back up will surely bless your heart.
It is our prayer that the songs on this album will be an inspiration to all who hear. May it give you encouragement and strength when you need it most. We have found that Stokely Chapel and this great family of God is a well spring of love and joy. We are looking forward to the day that its “Better Farther On.”
