Description
Continuing here a sale run of rare, top-choice audiophile disks at V.S.O.V. (Stay Tuned for Many More!), on offer is a superb First Edition exemplar of the justly famous Sheffield Lab's Direct-to-Disc recording of Maestro Erich Liensdorf leading the great L.A. Philharmonic in sumptuous accounts of the Stravinsky Firebird (1910 Version) and Debussy's haunting Afternoon of a Faun composed for the Ballets Russes and the sensuous Nijinsky. Listen to some of the greatest, most lyric modern European symphonic masterworks unfold via some of the finest full stereo dynamics ever infused and suffused on vinyl! Disk here first commercialized at a mature point in Sheffield Lab's campaign advocating an Audiophile Revolution (1985) and still at the time to the total wonderment of the most demanding vinyl hounds and critics the world over. This example is First Edition, First U.S. Pressings. Deadwax hand-engraved 2Z (1) (Side 1); 2Y (1) (Side 2) denoting earliest pressings. Under bright light, Disk appears Near-Mint. Disk Retains very high-gloss sheen on both faces. Some light, whispy, inaudible hairlines both faces. Play Grading shows superior, awesome Direct-to Disc Sonics, ultra-quiet surfaces, and simply astounding richness of captured orchestral tone and ambiance in all sections. A very, very few light ticks. Super-powerful bass response. Glorious! This exemplar comes complete with the multi-page, photo-illustrated booklet on performer, performance recording, and repertoire as performed. Gate-Fold, Heavy Cardboard Jacket is Near-Mint, All Seams intact. Not a Cut-Out. Inner, audiophile-grade plastic-lined paper sleeve of the era in perfect condition. A certain audiophile rarity here!
